What's Covered in the 4-Hour Renewal
You’ll review and re-test the core skills your BLS card already certifies you in:
- Adult and pediatric CPR, including two-rescuer scenarios and bag-mask use
- AED operation
- Foreign-body airway obstruction (choking response)
- Special considerations for pregnant patients
Everything reflects the current AHA guidelines. If you originally certified before the 2020/2021 updates, a couple of things have actually changed since then — small adjustments to compression depth and ventilation timing that matter when you’re tested.

In-Class vs. Online Renewal
In-class — $65
The 4-hour session at our Detroit center. Course materials included. Most healthcare providers choose this option because two years is long enough for hands-on technique to drift, and the in-person review catches what self-study can't.
Online — $55 + AHA online course fee
The AHA online course is purchased separately through the American Heart Association. The $55 covers your in-person skills check at our Detroit center after you finish the online portion. Both end with an AHA e-card emailed directly to you, valid for two more years.
One Thing Worth Knowing Before You Book
Renewal classes are for providers whose card is still active. If your BLS card has already expired — even by a day — most employers and the AHA require you to retake the full initial course, not the renewal.
